Gordis Epidemiology 7th Edition

Gordis Epidemiology Seventh Edition:

Written by David D. Celentano, Moyses Szklo, and Youssef M.K. Farag, Gordis Epidemiology, 7th Edition is a widely respected introduction to epidemiologic principles and public health research. Continuing the legacy of Dr. Leon Gordis, this bestselling textbook explains complex epidemiologic concepts through a clear, reader-friendly approach supported by real-world examples and practical clinical applications. The book is designed for students, healthcare professionals, public health practitioners, and researchers seeking a strong foundation in epidemiology and evidence-based medicine.

The text is organized into three major sections that guide readers from foundational concepts to applied epidemiologic practice. The first section introduces the epidemiologic approach to disease and intervention, covering disease transmission, surveillance, morbidity and mortality measures, screening tests, prognosis, and natural history of disease. The second section focuses on methods used to identify causes of disease, including observational studies, cohort and case-control studies, randomized clinical trials, risk estimation, bias, confounding, and causal inference. The final section explores practical applications of epidemiology in evaluation and policy, including outbreak investigation, clinical epidemiology, health services research, prevention strategies, and evidence-based public health decision-making.

The 7th edition includes updated examples reflecting current public health challenges, modern research methods, and advances in epidemiologic analysis. Clear illustrations, summary tables, chapter questions, and practical case discussions help readers understand key concepts and apply them to real clinical and population health situations. The accessible writing style and structured progression of topics make this book an essential resource for introductory and intermediate epidemiology courses.
